Hundreds of people flocked to Trafalgar Square to take part in the Diwali on the Square celebrations in London today.

Westminster was draped in colour for the festival of light, which included 200 dancers and performers from the Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities.

Mr Khan wrote on Twitter: ‘What a beautiful day in our capital. After so long it was wonderful to come together at Diwali on the Square with Londoners of all faiths & none’

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan hosts the annual free family event in partnership with the Diwali in London committee.

There were a flurry of colourful outfits as dancers performed on the Square celebration
