Do motorbikes pay congestion charge?

No they don't. Both motorcycles and mopeds are exempt from the congestion charge.

The reason for this is that Transport for London (TFL) note that motorbike congestion charge is not necessary as there is evidence that two wheeled vehicles do not cause congestion.

This also applies to motorbikes with a sidecar.

This policy meant vehicles which do not meet new minimum emissions standards need to pay a fee to travel around London.

As the Congestion Charge was introduced to combat traffic and Transport for London do not consider motorbikes as part of this issue, they are not required to pay.

However, motorbikes and other two-wheeled vehicles do create emissions, along with cars, vans and trucks.

If you have a motorbike that meets the Euro 3 standard for emissions, or was manufactured after July 2007 it is likely that you will not be required to pay the fee.
