Fire at the Russian Main Building of the Ministry of Defence

A fire has broken out at the Russian Ministry of Defence building in Moscow, footage has shown. Emergency services are rushing to the scene to extinguish a fire believed to have broken out on the fifth floor of the MoD office, just hours after Putin decried the West for their support of Ukraine.

 

Thick black smoke was seen pouring from the fifth floor of the MoD building, located on Znamenka Street in Moscow.

Emergency services are believed to have arrived at the scene and are trying to extinguish the flames.

The incident was first reported on Russian state media site TASS before videos began to emerge on Telegram of the fire.

Just hours earlier, Vladimir Putin met 17 new ambassadors to Moscow in the Grand Palace in the capital.
