- EXCLUSIVE: One of Gary Glitter’s victim has said ‘monster’ is still a ‘danger’
- The paedophile was released today after eight years in jail for child sex offences
One of Gary Glitter’s victims broke down and said she has been ‘let down by the justice system’ and warned he remains a danger to society after his release from prison – despite only serving half of his 16-year sex abuse sentence.
The disgraced paedophile, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was released from prison today – despite only serving half of his 16-year sex abuse sentence.
Glitter was jailed in 2015 for a series of child sex offences on three schoolgirls and has just three days to register his name with his local police station now he is out of HMP The Verne.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons told MailOnline: ‘It’s hit me really hard, I can’t believe this is happening to me. I just can’t do this anymore.
‘He should never been let out of prison for what he did. He’s just done eight years but I’m doing a life sentence. I can never forget what this monster did to me and I’m still struggling to deal with it. I really believe that he is still a danger to society, who knows what he could go on to do?’

Fighting back the tears, she cried: ‘What he did to me has affected my whole family and it’s ruined my life. I feel as if I’ve been let down by the justice system and that I’ve been attacked by Glitter again.
‘This is not right. I’m sorry, it’s all just too much for me, I can’t handle what’s happened today, it’s brought back too many painful memories.’
The victim, who is now in her 50s, is one of three schoolgirls attacked by Glitter, 78, whose real name is Paul Gadd when he was at the height of his fame in the 1970s.
The disgraced pop star was jailed in 2015 for his crimes.
The victim was aged 12 at the time of the attack and gave moving testimony during Glitter’s trial, describing how the musician plied her with champagne in his hotel room before raping her.

She revealed how when a youngster she was besotted with Glitter and had plastered the walls and ceiling of her bedroom with posters of the rockstar at her family’s house.
The victim told the court that she was ‘ecstatic’ when she went to see Glitter with her music-loving mum who introduced her to the heartthrob backstage at Baileys nightclub in Leicester in 1977.
Glitter signed their sparkly C&A gold jackets for them, then drank Moet champagne with the mother and daughter before luring the schoolgirl back to his suite at the Holiday Inn.
At the hotel Glitter regaled his guests with stories about dead comic Spike Milligan.
The woman told the court: ‘He said that Spike Milligan had been looking for him and that he had a gun and that he was mad and that he thought Gary slept with his wife.
‘He asked us if we had ever seen his wife and we said no, and he said she was ugly, and he wouldn’t have done that.
‘I hadn’t said much but I said to him ‘That’s chronic’ and he thought that was funny.’
After her mother drank too much, she was led away to lie down by Glitter’s song writing partner Mike Leander.
The court heard that Glitter then took the girl into a bedroom and carried the champagne and glasses with him.
Weeping while giving evidence, she told the jury: ‘He kissed me on the mouth.
‘Then he started to walk towards me, and we fell on the bed.’
She added: ‘He had his tongue in my mouth and I couldn’t breathe so I put my hands on his head to push his head back.
‘He said never, never touch his hair, nobody’s allowed to touch his hair – he said he had a phobia about people touching his hair.’
The bewigged rocker then pulled her t-shirt up and chastised her when she covered her chest.

The woman revealed that he then had sex with her ‘throughout the night’ and that she only complied for fear of letting her mother down.
She said: ‘I was just so confused because my mum’s gone so I didn’t know what she wanted me to do.
‘She really loved this guy so I am thinking I can’t upset her, and I was trying to be really grown-up because I have been there drinking and smoking.’
She added: ‘I didn’t know if she knew this was happening – if this is what I was supposed to do.
‘I remember the champagne coming into my mouth (from Glitter’s) and choking me.’
The woman said in her evidence that she then left with her mother in the morning but did not tell her what had happened.
Later, when a family friend visited the girl’s bedroom – still plastered with Glitter’s image – she would discover faded red roses from the musician and a note reading ‘Love Gary’.
At one time Glitter had been one of the UK’s most famous pop stars, with hits frequently played and used in films and TV.
But in 1997 he took his Toshiba laptop to be repaired at a branch of PC World in Bristol, not far from a cottage he owned in Wedmore, Somerset.
A library of child pornography was discovered on the hard drive and he was unmasked as the predatory paedophile he is known as today.
Now he is freed, Glitter must tell authorities seven days in advance of any foreign travel, and officers can veto any trip if they fear a risk of further offences taking place.
The sex predator will also have to wear a tag and tell police if he enters into a relationship with someone who has a child under 18.
The Ministry of Justice said freed sex offenders are monitored by the police and Probation Service and may be jailed again if they breach strict conditions.
It follows reports that Glitter’s 17-year-old daughter works gruelling 12-hour shifts in a poultry factory in Vietnam.
Truc Ly’s mother Tran Thi Kim Oanh said: ‘He should take responsibility and help her, but I don’t think he ever will.’
Truc Ly said: ‘I miss my school and my friends but it’s too late for me to go back to school even if I wanted to. I just want to look after my mum now.’
Asked about pastimes, Truc Ly said: ‘I don’t have time. I’m always working. I get up, I work, I eat, I shower, then go to bed at 9pm.’
She works at an industrial complex near the Cambodian border, doing all the overtime she can and giving half her salary to her mother in child labour that was illegal until she turned 17 last month.
Teachers said Truc Ly was destined for university but she dropped out at 12 when her family could no longer afford school fees.
She moved 300 miles to work alongside her mother at the factory, using a forged ID card to secure her job three years ago.
She sticks labels on packets of processed chicken, some for British stores, from 7am to 7pm daily.
Glitter was freed in 2008 and returned to Britain, where he was jailed again in 2015 for child sex abuse dating back to the 1970s

Her mother Oanh, a former bar girl, was Glitter’s girlfriend before he was jailed in Vietnam in 2006 for molesting girls aged ten and 11.
He had been arrested after The Mail on Sunday confronted him and reported him to police.
He was freed in 2008 and returned to Britain, where he was jailed again in 2015 for child sex abuse dating back to the 1970s.
He severed contact with heavily pregnant Oanh, then 24, when she asked him to pay her maternity bills weeks before his arrest, sending her home by bus with a bundle of banknotes worth £100.
He did not respond to her letters asking him to take a DNA test and pay for Truc Ly to stay at school.
Oanh had a Vietnamese boyfriend at the time she was sleeping with Glitter but he took one look at Truc Ly in hospital and walked out on her, saying: ‘That’s not my baby. She looks like a Westerner.’
After Glitter was jailed in Britain in 2015, Oanh wrote another unanswered letter asking him to pay for her to stay on in school, saying: ‘You would be very proud of her.’
Now he has walked free from jail, Glitter faces compensation claims from the women he raped as young girls in Vietnam 18 years ago.
Glitter, born Paul Gadd, has property holdings including a £2million central London flat which is nominally owned by a limited company controlled by a former associate.
He also receives digital streaming royalties adding up to thousands of pounds each month.
Glitter, who co-wrote many of his hits with Mike Leander, currently has 723,464 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Spotify only pays a tiny percentage per stream but 723,464 streams equals $2,300 dollars or £1,900 a month.
Glitter’s back catalogue is also available on Apple, which does not disclose monthly listening figures for artists.
‘Digital [performance] royalties from streaming tend to go to the songwriter,’ said Amy Pruett, an intellectual property lawyer at U.S. law firm Williams Mullen.
