A German father who survived serious injuries in a machete attack by a teenage girl allegedly hired by his sons to kill him has said he forgives them and hopes they get a light sentence, so they can be reunited.

The two boys, identified only as Arhat, 15, and Firat, 16, hired a 14-year-old schoolgirl, Eileen Ö, to carry out the murder, a court heard.

The pair apparently believed their father, a 55-year-old kiosk owner, deserved to die because he would not grant their mother, Reyham, P., 44, a divorce, and because of domestic violence.

The father allegedly hit and kicked his wife on April 5 last year. In the same month, she moved to Berlin with her younger son, Arhat, while Firat stayed with his father, German outlet Bild reported.

In Berlin, classmate and friend Eileen Ö was reportedly ready to kill the hated father with a machete for money paid to her by his two sons.

After the boys hired the girl, she and Arhat are said to have travelled from Berlin to the town where the father lived: Herne, in the state of Rhine-Westphalia, in northwest Germany near Dusseldorf.

They apparently stayed at the Zur Post hotel, but headed over to the family home in the middle of night on October 24 last year.

The court heard how Firat opened the door and let the hired killer in while his father was sleeping in bed, and the girl sneaked into his room to carry out the attack at 4.40am.

The father suffered deep head wounds and lost a finger as he fought for his life, but managed to survive the brutal attack.

The girl then fled and Arhat hid, a prosecutor said.

In hospital later, doctors treated the numerous face cuts and sewed the severed finger back on.

Prosecutors told the court in the nearby town of Bochum how the children’s mother knew about the plan, but did nothing to stop it.

Prosecutor Danyal Maibaum, 47, said: ‘As agreed, Firat opened the door after making sure that the father was sleeping and that no resistance was to be expected from him.

Prosecutors told the court how the boys’ mother Reyham (pictured above) knew about the plot but did nothing to stop it.

The attack took place in Herne in the state of Rhine-Westphalia, in northwest Germany near Dusseldorf and the border with the Netherlands

‘The victim woke up and fought off the blows. He lost a finger in the process. The killer fled, son Arhat hid.’

Ismail Kilicli, 53, who is representing the father in the process, said: ‘My client is a living corpse. He would rather have died. He thought he had a loving relationship with his sons. He can’t explain the act at all.’

Despite his ordeal, the victim says he still loves his sons and hopes for the lightest possible sentence.

The teens have all been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and assisting in attempted murder.

The trial for the two boys started on April 4 and is ongoing, while the 14-year-old girl who allegedly carried out the attack is to be tried separately in Berlin.

The boys’ mother is facing potential charges of aiding and abetting and attempted murder.

Also on trial is a friend called Karim S., 22, who, according to the investigation, wanted to take over the murder for €4,000 (£3,519).

He even offered to get a Desert Eagle semi-automatic pistol, according to Bild.

The brothers and friend are currently being held in custody, while the mother has been released subject to conditions.

Meanwhile, the 14-year-old girl is currently on bail in Berlin, as the public prosecutor sees no risk of absconding.

She is to be tried in the capital, as the place of residence of underage suspects is considered the trial location.

All potentially face long prison sentences.
