Inside abandoned cottage left to rot for up to 10 years: Urban explorer captures eerie photos of isolated home showing clothes still hanging on line by the fireplace, family photos and dirty plates on the sideboard
- An isolated cottage left to rot for over ten years has been photographed
- Urban explorer Kyle Urbex documented the property in Leek, Staffordshire
An urban explorer has captured eerie photos of an isolated home showing clothes still hanging on the line by the fireplace, family photos and dirty plates on the sideboard.
Not much is known about the property in Leek, Staffordshire, urban explorer Kyle Urbex claimed.
He said it was occupied by a family of four and that the man of the house worked for a local pottery company, hence the nickname ‘The Potter’s Cottage’.
Kyle, from Leeds, photographed calendars dating back to 2010, suggesting the former owners abandoned the property more than a decade ago.
In another photograph, the family’s personal items including a photograph of a young boy can be seen.

Dirty plates and a metal teapot were on the sideboard, along with a video of 1992 film Home Alone 2
Old newspapers were scattered over a table in the seemingly long-forgotten property
Kyle said: ‘Once inside I was quite shocked at just how frozen in time the entire place was, from old newspapers on the table to the chair situated right next to the older-styled fire pit.
‘Personal memories scattered about the desks and walls from family photos and days gone by certainly made this explore more unique.
‘The man’s overalls were hanging up and there were pictures of the family left behind.
Black and white photographs adorned the walls, which seemed damp with mould, while overalls hung from pegs
A wood burner was surrounded by logs ready for burning and a burgundy tie was draped over a dark green armchair
Rot and decay has become the decor for the house, as Kyle Urbex’s eerie photographs showed
A calendar with a teddy bear family ornament hanging on top of it was open to January and February 2010
The abandoned house in Staffordshire is quick turning into a creepy ruin set with spooky ceramic sculptures
‘It was alleged that the man of the house worked for a local pottery company.
‘Later in life, he served as a handyman carrying out any repairs to the household and garden and even the family car.
‘He was a collector of vintage antiques judging from the coca cola bucket pictured and little keepsakes scattered across the kitchen counters.
‘It looks as though they left one day and never returned home.
‘The small cottage consists of kitchen area, living room area and two bedrooms with the toilet situated outside.
‘So it proves just how far back this property dates back.
‘It was completely isolated in the middle of nowhere too, so I was just taken back by the whole explore.
‘I’m glad I did manage to tick it off my list.’
