‘If somebody tried to throw soup over them, they’d kick off’: Just Stop Oil are selling paintings worth up to £30,000 at auction to fund their eco-activism

Just Stop Oil chiefs are selling paintings worth up to £30,000 at auction to fund their eco-activism.
The group flogged more than 100 works at a pop-up gallery showcasing art donated by celebrities such as Boy George.
Activist Anna Holland, 21, hosted the You May Find Yourself exhibition for two weeks in a London arthouse, according to The Sun.
Holland, of Newcastle, was allegedly behind a ploy to vandalise Van Goph’s famous painting Sunflowers with tomato soup in October last year.
The eco-zealot is facing a criminal damage charge next year.

Ms Holland’s alleged abettor, 21-year-old Phoebe Plummer, of Lambeth, South London, featured in a Mona Lisa-inspired work which raked in £7,500 for the group.
Meanwhile singer Boy George’s No Oil Boy sold for a whopping sum of more than £11,000.
The most expensive piece of the expedition went for more than £30,000 when the auction shut on Friday.
One source said: ‘If someone tried to throw soup on their paintings they’d probably kick off, especially as they are being sold for thousands.’

The artwork was protected by a sheet of glass and was undamaged but the pair were charged with damaging the frame on October 14, 2021.
The choice of soup was meant to be a reference to the cost-of-living crisis in the UK.
The art exhibition comes amid weeks of chaos brought on by the activist group, with multiple protests holding up busy commuters in London.
This week a furious van driver appears to scream ‘get out of the f***ing road’ at relentless protesters as they continued their slow marching campaign in the capital city.
The climate demonstrators blocked roads and disrupted commuters in various locations across London, including near Waterloo station, Fleet Street, Millbank and Islington.
