Kremlin prepped for ‘worst case scenario’ as UK missiles could strike Russia

A blunt former Russian colonel has gone on Kremlin-backed television to claim that Putin should “prepare for the worst” as British missiles could be used by Ukraine to target the country.

As announced yesterday (May 11), the UK is sending Ukraine long-range cruise missiles to help push back Russian forces.

it is the first known shipment of the weaponry that Kyiv has long sought from its allies.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told lawmakers in the House of Commons that Britain is donating Storm Shadow missiles, which have a range of more than 250 kilometers (155 miles). He didn’t say how many are being sent.

Wallace said the missiles “are now going into or are in the country itself.”

And it seems as if Russian leaders are now panicking about the shipment.

Mikhail Khodaryonok, who has often been brutally honest about the realities of Russia's failing invasion on Russian state TV, has taken to the airwaves to warn Russians that the missiles could be used to target major cities.

When asked about the missiles, he said: “It has a very powerful warhead, and in its range are Novorossiysk, Sochi, Rostov-on-Dov and Krasnodar.

“Ukraine's offensive operation will begin with a massive strike using that high-precision weaponry as deep as possible on all possible sites in Russia, primarily infrastructure sites of course.

“And that massive strike, in addition to an electronic attack, linked to the creation of organised impediments to all our electronic warfare equipment, that will be the start of the offensive operation.”

The host, seemingly angry with the honesty, sarcastily replied that Khodaryonok “knows how to instil optimism and hope”.

However, the experience former Russian army boss batted back.

He said: “Forgive me for the military jargon, (but) it's better for us, in this respect, to be safe than sorry and prepare for the worst case scenario.”
