A MAN has been charged with murder after a women died at a house having suffered “serious injuries".
Police have charged Gavin Nash, 39, with the death of 64-year-old Lynette Nash after officers and paramedics rushed to a property in Tansy Lane, Portishead, at around noon on June 27.
Avon and Somerset Police said formal identification had not yet taken place, but is due to take place later this week.
The force said the woman had suffered “serious injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nash, who has been remanded in police custody, is due to appear before magistrates at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on June 30.
Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, said: “This is a substantial step in what has been a very fast-paced, intensive investigation.

“Lynette’s family have been informed and they continue to be offered support by our specialist family liaison officers.
"Our thoughts continue to be with the family as they come to terms with what has happened.
“We would like to thank the local community again for their patience and understanding while we carried out our investigation.”
Avon and Somerset Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior police contact.
