Man dies in Cronulla drowning, two others pulled from water

A man has died and two have been hospitalised after they were pulled from the water at Cronulla on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Shelly Beach about 1.50pm after a group of swimmers got into difficulty.

Surf lifesavers located two unconscious men in the water and took them to shore. One died at the scene.

The second unconscious man was taken to St George Hospital, while a third man was also rescued and taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were conducting inquiries and will prepare a report for the coroner.
