A MAN has been rushed to hospital after an "incident" at a busy overground station.

Armed police and an air ambulance rushed to Hackney Central station in East London at 1.30pm today.

One witness wrote on Twitter: "So weird seeing police with guns."

They added: "I saw them wheeling away a boy with an oxygen mask on."

Video shows an air ambulance landing on the football pitch of a nearby school.

The station is currently close while emergency services deal with the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Following reports of an incident at 1.29pm today (1 March), armed officers are currently on scene at Hackney Central railway station.

"One man has been taken to a local hospital and the station is closed while officers make enquiries into the incident.

"We will issue a further update shortly."

Transport for London tweeted: "Hackney Central Station: Closed while the police carry out an investigation."
