Martin Lewis issues warning to households over deadline to receive £200 energy bill support payment
- Martin Lewis said people who thought they should have payment had deadline
- Mr Lewis said that they had until May 31 to ask for it from the government
Martin Lewis says households who use alternative fuels have until May 31 to apply for the £200 energy support payment.
The Money Saving Expert highlighted the important deadline on his ITV show the Martin Lewis Money Show.
Mr Lewis – who is famed for his advice on saving cash – unveiled the important fact in a ‘need to know section’.
The Mirror reports he told viewers the Government has said it had given out the £200 alternative energy bill payment, including to those in Northern Ireland.
But Mr Lewis then sad that in fact some people who had asked for it had not had the money through to them yet.

The money advice man spoke out after a question was posed to him by a fan, whose name was Stephen.
It was read by Angellica Bell, who is Mr Lewis’ co-host.
She said: ‘I live in our house and use domestic heating oil for my central heating and hot water.
‘I have not yet received the £200 from the Government that was supposed to be credited to my electricity account as part of the domestic energy health scheme, how do i get this?’
Martin Lewis said that if people thought that they were entitled to the money they need to check how they paid their bills.
Mr Lewis said: ‘We’ve had a lot of those who haven’t had their payment yet and I actually understand why.
‘The reason is that electricity companies don’t know who’s got those fuels, and the database was never going to be 100% accurate.’

Those on a traditional pre-payment meter should have been sent by post, email, or text a voucher for the discount.
Mr Lewis said that if that had not happened then people should go and apply for the £200 payment through the Government’s online portal on GOV.UK. The deadline is May 31.
