EXCLUSIVE: Mother, 42, found dead alongside her teenage daughter in the New Forest is named as police continue to probe ‘unexplained’ deaths
- Suzan Mahmoud, 42, and teenage daughter, 17, discovered at Hampshire home
- They were both found inside Shorefield Road house, Downton, on December 29
- Police have said they are treating deaths as ‘unexplained’ but not suspicious
A mother who was found dead alongside her teenage daughter at a home in the New Forest has been named as Suzan Mahmoud.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed that Mrs Mahmoud’s death had been reported to the coroner with an inquest to be opened at a later date.
Mrs Mahmoud, 42, was found with her 17-year-old daughter, who has not been named, at the rundown detached property in the tiny hamlet of Downtown, near Lymington, Hampshire, on December 29.
Neighbours said they saw another young woman wrapped in a blanket and being comforted by police after the discovery of the bodies were made.

Hampshire Police said they are not treating the deaths as suspicious but said they are ‘unexplained’.
A spokesman said a file had been prepared for the coroner.
Neighbours said Mrs Mahmoud had bought the house in January 2022 following the death of her husband.
She is understood to have been living in the Maidenhead area of Berkshire and travelling down to the south coast to work on the house.
The girl and the woman have been found dead at a New Forest National Park property
One neighbour said:’ We did not really see her that often, but when they bought the house she told us her husband had recenltly died and the family wanted to move to the country to start afresh.
‘The house needed completely renovating and they were doing it with the help of local builders as well as work themselves.
‘They were not here that often but it is just awful to think what has happened.
‘We asked the police if we should be worried with two bodies beging found and they would not say anything. The police were not here very long, so there is no investigation.’
The Fire Brigade were called to the scene but a spokesman said they were not required to take any action.
Other neighbours of the £620,000 five-bedroom home said after the initial police activity they had not seen any other emergency services at the house.
Property records show that it was bought last year by a woman Laura Allen.
The 22-year-old was named by neighbours as the young woman who was seen wrapped in a blanket standing outside the house.
It is thought she made the discovery of her mother and sister and called the police to the property at 1.45pm on December 29.
Ms Smith said: ‘It’s so quiet around here – nothing happens around here. It’s very sleepy.
‘The family purchased the house last January, but didn’t really move in.
‘They were doing renovations and they had done a lot of work on the house.
‘We know they spoke to another neighbour on Christmas Eve.
‘On the day [of the deaths], we saw another daughter wrapped in a blanket outside with police.
‘It’s incredibly sad, I can’t stop thinking about it. Just horrific.
‘We don’t really know anything about what happened.
‘When something like this happens – you’re just a bit worried.’
The neighbours said they did not know how the mother and daughter died, and didn’t know them by name.
