Mum of Brit ex-air hostess who vanished from lover’s Caribbean yacht reveals how chilling text sparked nightmare ordeal | The Sun
THE mum of a Brit woman who vanished from her lover's Caribbean yacht has revealed how a chilling text sparked a nightmare ordeal.
Sarm Heslop was reported missing by her boyfriend Ryan Bane, 45, on March 8 last year.
The former flight attendant, who was 41 at the time of her disappearance, had been staying and working with Bane, a US citizen, on his catamaran.
But, more than a year on, Sarm's parents are still desperately searching for answers.
Mum Brenda Street has now revealed how she found out Sarm was gone.
Speaking to the Mail Online, Brenda said it started with a text at 11am one morning.

"This is Ryan Bane, Sarm's boyfriend," it read. "Please ring me."
Sitting on her Essex terrace Brenda clicked video call, and up popped Bane's face.
Her daughter's partner of eight months, who Brenda had never spoken to, was sitting on his yacht Siren Song, which was moored of the coast of a Caribbean island called St John.
Brenda recalled: "He said, 'Sarm's missing'. I said: 'What do you mean?"

The man told her the pair had been for a meal on the island before coming back and watching a movie on the yacht, which was 120ft offshore.
Bane said he'd nodded off and was woken when the anchor alarm — which sounds when movement is detected — went off at 2am.
She continued: "Once he'd checked it, he said he went down to bed — and she wasn't there.
"He said he'd phoned the police. I felt totally numb."
A nightmare ordeal has followed for Brenda and the rest of their family.
Despite an investigation, no suspects have ever been wanted in connection to Sarm's disappearance.
And there is no explanation as to why Brenda's seemingly happy, healthy daughter, who was a strong swimmer and described by friends and family as independent and conscientious, would just vanish.
She said there are still so many unanswered questions.
If your loved one has gone missing, wouldn't you do everything you could to help?
Police say Bane has never been searched and Ryan has not been questioned by police.
But his lawyer, David Cattie, said coastguards had conducted an "on-site inspection of the vessel" and an "interview without limitation".
He also said that Bane was "devastated" and "heartbroken" by Sarm's disappearance.
But, days after Sarm disappeared, Bane's ex-wife exclusively told The Sun that he had been jailed for attacking her.
One year after the woman's disappearance, The Sun published seven questions that remined unanswered.
They ranged from Bane refusing to speak to the police, to selling his boat.
Sitting in her living room in tears recently, Brenda said: "My heart is breaking but I need to see she's gone before I can say she's dead.
"Not knowing is torture."
