Mum of Lilia Valutyte says ‘we had 4 corners and now one is gone’ as she pays tribute to ‘cheeky & fun’ nine-year-old | The Sun

TRAGIC Lilia Valutyte's mum has paid tribute to her "cheeky" daughter after the nine-year-old was stabbed to death in the street.

The youngster was killed as she played with a hula hoop next to her five-year-old sister in Boston, Lincs, last month.

Fruit picker Deividas Skebas, 22, has been charged with her murder.

Lilia's mum Lina has now released a string of new photos of her daughter as she paid tribute.

She said: "You find yourself looking for her everywhere. We had four corners and now one is gone.”

Lilia's stepdad Aurelijus added: “She was cheeky; quiet in one way and then other ways she wasn't. She always tried to make fun.”

The family is now planning to install a statue in memory of her daughter in Boston town centre close to where she was killed.

Lina also spoke of her agony at Lilia's life being cruelly cut short before she could experience any of her hopes or dreams.

She said: "It’s hard to know what to say. She was just a normal child, one day she’s happy and another she isn’t, one day she wants to eat pancakes and another she doesn’t – the usual things.

"She loved to dance, travel and try new things, and annoy her sister. She wanted to go to Italy, so we will probably go anyway next year.”

An inquest last week heard how Lilia's cause of death was given as a stab wound to the chest.

Haunting CCTV showed the schoolgirl holding a hula hoop as she played with her sister just moments before the brutal attack.

Police could then be seen rushing over to Lilia in a desperate bid to save her.

Skebas has been remanded in custody to appear at Lincoln Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 19.
