Murder cops launch desperate hunt for black Vauxhall Insignia after woman was gunned down in her own home | The Sun

COPS are on the hunt for a black Vauxhall Insignia as part of a murder investigation after a woman was brutally gunned down in her own home.

Jacqueline Rutter, 53, was fatally shot in her own home in Moreton, Wirral in the early hours of Sunday October 30.


Merseyside Police now believe this was a targeted attack and currently suspect two or three people were involved.

It is suspected those involved may be connected to a black Vauxhall Insignia that was seen in the area from around 12.45am to 1.15am.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath said: “We are still treating this as a targeted incident and we are continuing to appeal to residents in the area.

"We believe at least two or three people were involved in this incident, and we are sure that information is out there to identify who they are, where they are, and where the weapon is.

“We now believe that a black Vauxhall insignia was driven near the property on Meadowbrook Road and was also seen on Birkenhead Road, Hoylake Road and Garden Hey Road between 12.45am–1.15am that Sunday morning."

Police have urged anyone who lives in the area to check any form of CCTV they may have such as a Ring doorbell.

This comes after officers arrived at Ms Rutter's property, on Meadowbank Road, Moreton, Wirral around 1.45am and discovered her body.

The 53-year-old had a gunshot wound to the chest and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 79-year-old man, who was known to the victim, was arrested following the horror attack but released under investigation pending further enquiries.

One woman who said: "A neighbour saw him being taken away in handcuffs.

“He was shouting, ‘I didn’t do it, I didn’t do it'.”

Another resident, who didn’t wish to be named, said she’d heard a shot around 1.05am.

She said: “At first I thought it was a firework.
