A BRITISH tourist died after getting out of the sea at a popular holiday beach.
The 55-year-old man felt unwell after coming out of the water at the beach of Praia dos Alemães in Albufeira, Portugal.
Emergency services rushed to the beach shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday following reports a tourist had gone into cardiac arrest.
Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, local media reported.
The National Maritime Authority said in a statement: "Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the victim, a 55-year-old man of British nationality, was being assisted by lifeguards on duty on the beach, with the support of people who were nearby, until the arrival of Albufeira Volunteer Firefighters and an Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (INEM) crew who started resuscitation manoeuvres on the victim."

The man's body was later transferred to the Legal Medical Office of Portimão by volunteer firefighters.
Last month another tourist died as she walked out of the sea in Albufeira.
The 45-year-old tourist complained about feeling unwell after getting out of the water at Penedo beach.
Earlier this month a Brit tourist was found dead on a sunbed after suddenly falling ill while on the beach on a Greek island.
