Randall Emmett is sued by his fired Muslim assistant

The Irishman producer Randall Emmett is sued by his fired Muslim assistant who claims he was forced to pay for prostitutes, bricks of cocaine and run gambling errands – despite it being against his religion

Randall Emmett’s former assistant has launched a lawsuit against The Irishman producer – claiming that he forced him to pay for prostitutes, bricks of cocaine, and participate in gambling, despite it being against his religion.

Martin G’Blae, who is a black Muslim man, alleges that the filmmaker racially discriminated against him, used the n-word, and also created a hostile work environment which violated his beliefs. 

The 29-year-old worked as Emmett’s production assistant during the filming of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020 – and has now claimed his boss violated the law a total of 24 times, LA Times reports. 

He was fired from production company Emmett/Furla Oasis – but believes race discrimination was a factor, filing the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday. 

Among the allegations of racism was one encounter, when Emmett was reading a book written by rapper 50 Cent. He allegedly ‘got mad at 50 Cent and G’Blae.’

The lawsuit claims: ‘He called 50 Cent, ‘this f*****g n*****,’ and then said to G’Blae, ‘All you guys are alike. All you guys do is hustle people.’ He then threw the book at G’Blae.’

The ex-assistant said that he was made ‘uncomfortable’ when he was asked to perform duties including poker and gambling, because they are activities prohibited in Islamic culture. 

‘Emmett still requested G’Blae to run poker-related errands for him approximately six more times, knowing it would make him uncomfortable and violate his religious beliefs,’ the suit says. 

His jobs also included ‘paying Emmett’s prostitutes and drug dealers,’ the explosive lawsuit claims.  

G’Blae also claims that his boss would leave expensive items, like luxury watches, around him as a ‘trap’ to see if he’d steal them. 

He also made the assistant – who was the only black employee at the company – ‘turn out his pockets to check if he had stolen anything,’ the lawsuit says. 

When watching Cardi B on television, Emmett asked G’Blae to ‘translate’ for him as he had trouble understanding what the rapper was saying, he claims in the suit. 

Emmett – known for being the producer of The Irishman – also brought cocaine to Puerto Rico while they were filming for ‘Midnight in the Switchgrass,’  which put G’Blae in an ‘unsafe and unlawful situation,’ the former assistant claims. 

The lawsuit alleges: ‘Emmett had forgotten the code to the safe, so they had the hotel receptionist and a security guard open it. Inside, they found what appeared to be brick of cocaine.

‘The other assistant quickly grabbed it, and they drove back to Emmett, fearing being pulled over and found with a brick of cocaine. When they gave it to Emmett, G’Blae told him forcefully to never put him in an unsafe and unlawful situation like that again.’ 

He also claims that Emmett enlisted him in an ‘insurance fraud scam’ – and asked him to claim insurance for his missing Rolls Royce. But G’Blae says it was not actually stolen. 

Alongside the alleged illicit activities,  G’Blae also claims that he has not been expensed correctly for his work – but Emmett’s legal team say that the money he says he’s owed cannot be substantiated. 

In a statement, the former assistant said: ‘By bringing to light the illegal pay scheme, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation that I suffered during my employment with Randall Emmett and his companies, I’m glad to open the floor for these discussions to take place.

‘I hope, through this, a message is made that there are just some things you cannot remain silent about — illegal practices, abuse, and your rights within the workplace are just a few of many.’ 

He is suing for emotional stress damages, punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees.  The lawsuit is also lodged against Emmett’s business partner George Furla and their LA-based film production company.

Suann MacIsaac, attorney for Randall Emmett, told DailyMail.com: ‘The allegations being made are beyond fictitious. Mr. G’Blae is a disgruntled former employee who was fired for cause. 

‘During the last year he has tried to get thousands of dollars from Mr. Emmett for supposed unpaid expenses that he cannot substantiate. 

‘Mr. G’Blae will most definitely be held accountable for his actions in a courtroom.’ 

This comes just days after Emmett’s ex-wife Ambyr Childers filed for a domestic violence restraining order against the film producer in Los Angeles County Superior Court, saying she had ‘legitimate fear for [her] safety and well-being.’

According to the Los Angeles Times, a judge denied a request made by Childers, 34, for an emergency temporary order Tuesday, citing little evidence, but set a November 14 hearing to review the issue in further detail.

A rep for the producer told US Weekly, ‘Randall is very pleased the court recognized that there was no merit to any of these claims and denied the request.’

Childers, who shares joint legal and physical custody of two daughters with the producer, London, 12, and Rylee, eight, told the court that on Friday, she emailed Emmett, 51, that their older daughter’s school had notified her that their child was routinely tardy while in her father’s care. 

Childers, an actress who has been seen on show such as You and Aquarius, said in legal docs that she inadvertently got a look at emails Emmett and his lawyer Ben Valencia exchanged after his response included previous emails he and his lawyer had corresponded in, the paper reported. 

She said that in the email, Valencia said to Emmett, ‘When will you get some real money together so we can take this c*** out once and for all. This is not good for your girls.’

Emmett replied, ‘I don’t have real money for this and you know it,’ according to court records.
