Readers back Boris Johnson’s plea for the West to do more to help Ukraine in Russia war, poll shows
- A Mail Plus poll showed 74 per cent agree the UK is not doing enough for Ukraine
- Boris Johnson implored for hundreds more tanks, planes and armoured cars
- He called on America, Germany, Poland and other Western powers to do more
An overwhelming number of Mail readers believe the West is not doing enough to help Ukraine win the war against Russia.
In total, 9,287 readers voted on the Mail Plus poll, with 74 per cent in agreement with Boris Johnson and 26 per cent saying the West are doing enough to support the war effort.
In an article for the Mail yesterday, Mr Johnson implored that hundreds more tanks, planes and armoured cars must be sent to Ukraine for a final push to victory.
He said: ‘Let’s give Ukrainians all they need to win now.’ While he praised the UK for sending 14 Challenger 2 tanks, he said: ‘Now is the time for others to follow our lead.’

The former prime minister called on America, Germany, Poland and many other Western powers to provide military arms for Ukraine.
Mr Johnson added: ‘[Putin] is now preparing a counterpunch and… [Ukraine] will need our help for that next and decisive phase.’
Strategically, Ukraine has to regain control of conquered land between Donbas and Crimea which currently blocks their access to the Sea of Azov.
This, according to Mr Johnson, will ensure a Ukrainian victory and then, ‘it is game over for Putin’.
Mr Johnson said: ‘All they (Ukraine) need to do it is the kind of kit the West has in abundance, and which right now could have no higher moral or strategic purpose than to help Ukraine.’
The former Prime Minister warned of Putin’s ever-present danger with the power to conscript Russia’s vast population and ‘his total contempt for the value of human life’.
