While Lancashire Police has been plunged into crisis over its handling of the Nicola Bulley inquiry, its elected commissioner has been busy in the kitchen – and on social media.
Andrew Snowden has remained remarkably quiet about the disaster unravelling around him.
But he has kept people updated on his meal choices, by sharing pictures of them with his 2,000 Twitter followers.
As volunteers combed the banks of the River Wyre in search of Nicola last weekend, Snowden tweeted a snap of his dinner, writing: ‘Saturday night treat of lamb shank slow cooked for 8 hours in a spicy homemade curry sauce, served on garlic and seasoned rice.’

The next day, Snowden, who has a young son called Walter and dog, Heidi, tweeted a picture of a bottle of wine, quipping: ‘Walter’s in bed. Dinner is nearly ready. Heidi conked out. Hello Saturday night!’
Snowden earns £104,000 a year as Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner. Martyn Underhill, police commissioner for Dorset, told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Tweeting out pictures of his dinner is really not in keeping with the public mood over the hunt for poor Nicola.’
Snowden, 38, a former Tory councillor, did not respond to requests for comment last night.
