Teen killed in shooting outside Aurora mall
A teenager was shot to death outside an Aurora mall on Saturday night, Aurora police said.
The shooting happened at the Town Center at Aurora in a parking lot outside of the Dillard’s department store at about 8 p.m., according to a police news release. There was an “altercation” among a group of teenagers near the food court that culminated in shots fired, the release said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a “young teenage boy” who had been shot. First responders tried to help the boy but could not save his life. The teenager has not been publicly identified, and an Aurora police spokesman did not know his exact age Sunday.
The circumstances that led up to the shooting were not immediately clear, police said, and investigators were working to determine the nature of the relationship between the shooter and the victim.
