This is the terrifying moment a Canadian construction worker was recorded dangling from a crane at a construction site.

Two men seemingly on the construction site across the worker can be heard yelling in a fruitless attempt to stop the machinery.

Meanwhile, the worker sways his legs in the air and holds onto the tagline with both hands as he screams in terror.

One of the witnesses bizarrely yells at the worker to ‘let your hard hat fall,’ pointing out the equipment he was struggling to not let go of was not going to help his case.

The worker obliged and let the hat fall while he continued his terrifying descent onto the ground.

The now-viral video was posted by the Instagram page @my_s1 on Tuesday and has garnered more than 73,000 views and thousands of comments.

The man, who was unharmed after he finally touched the ground, is employed by PCL Constructors Canada and was working at a jobsite on Front and Simcoe Streets.

The company said the worker’s hand was entangled with a tagline after he attached a load to the crane. Canada’s Ministry of Labour has opened an investigation into the incident.

In the video, a shocked man can be heard saying, ‘How the f*** did this happen?’

Another seemingly tried to grab the operator’s attention by telling him to stop the machinery as the worker neared the ground, but was asked by the person standing next to him to not yell so as to not distress the worker.

‘Holy-F**** Jesus Christ. Somebody tell [the operator] to stop before he gets crushed,’ one of the witnesses said.

‘We can confirm that an incident took place at our site located at Front and Simcoe yesterday involving a rigger who got entangled with a tagline after hooking a load,’ the statement read.

‘Fortunately, he was safely lowered to the work surface and not seriously injured. The safety of all workers and the community is our top priority. We are working with all appropriate authorities and the incident is currently under investigation.’
