The Park Tavern in Capitol Hill has closed — and left a mystery about what might follow

The Park Tavern & Restaurant, a familiar watering hole for anyone who has lived in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood over the past 25 years, has closed — and its Facebook page is down.

A sign on the door of the business, at 931 E. 11th Ave., reads “Sorry, permantly (sic) closed. Join us at 3 Kilts! Across the street”, while the business’s Instagram page posted a message on July 8 saying that July 15 would be its last day.

But the Instagram post also added: “Rest assured new, exciting, & tasty things are coming in the near future. We will see all of you again soon.”

So does Park Tavern owner Lou Belegratis have another concept up his sleeve for the address? We couldn’t reach Belegratis on Monday morning (The Denver Post will update this story if we do), but if he does, it wouldn’t be the first time he has switched things up.

In 2017, he renovated the space, turning it away from the divey feel into a more brightly lit space with a rooftop patio and an entirely new menu, with brunch.
