Vet, 31, appears in court after 'stabbing veterinary nurse, 34, to death' in Bournemouth home 'murder' | The Sun

A VET has today appeared in court charged with stabbing a mum-of-two nurse to death in her seaside home.

Stephanie Hodgkinson, 35, suffered a knife wound to the chest in Bournemouth, Dorset, on May 12.

Dr Alberto Fioletti appeared at Winchester Crown Court today charged with murder.

The 31-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing.

Fioletti, who was known to Stephanie, was remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing on September 15.

Police were scrambled to Stephanie's home at around 12.19pm on May 12 following a call from the ambulance service.

Tragically she couldn't be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

Fioletti was taken to hospital with serious injuries before being arrested and later charged.

The vet worked in his native Italy before moving to the UK as a "rotating intern" at an animal hospital in Stockton-on-Tees.

Tributes have flooded in for mum Stephanie, who worked as a veterinary nurse at the Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists.

One pal said: "Steph was literally one of the nicest, kindest, person you could ever have met. She had such a fantastic sense of humour and it was a pleasure to work with her.

"My thoughts are with her 2 young boys and all her family, friends and colleagues. Such a waste of a beautiful life.

"Sleep well, gorgeous angel."

While a spokesperson for SCVS said: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with Stephanie's family at this tragic time.

"As this matter is now the subject of active court proceedings, we are unable to comment further."
