Virginia Roberts's lawyer says Ghislaine Maxwell's gripes are trivial
EXCLUSIVE: ‘She’s complaining about cereal for breakfast?’ Lawyer for Prince Andrew accuser Virginia Roberts calls Ghislaine Maxwell’s gripes about bland prison food ‘trivial compared to the damage she did to young girls’ and says she shows ‘no remorse’
- In a new jailhouse interview, vegetarian Ghislaine Maxwell moaned that the food at FCI Tallahassee in Florida is bland and mostly beans and tofu
- Lawyer David Boies, who represents Virginia Roberts, told DailyMail.com that Maxwell’s prison complaints are ‘trivial’
- Maxwell refused to apologize to her victims and said that she hopes they have a ‘good and productive life,’ which Boies says is proof she belongs in prison
Lawyers for Prince Andrew’s accuser have lashed out at Ghislaine Maxwell for complaining about her prison diet rather than ‘taking responsibility for what she did.’
David Boies, who represents Virginia Roberts, said Maxwell shouldn’t be ‘complaining about having cereal and fruit for breakfast’ in a jailhouse interview while serving her 20-year sentence for trafficking underage girls to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Boies told DailyMail.com that such gripes were ‘trivial compared to the damage she did to numerous young girls’ and said there was ‘no recognition of what she did was wrong.’
In Maxwell’s interview on the British network TalkTV, Maxwell, who eats a vegetarian diet, moaned that the food at FCI Tallahassee in Florida is ’95 per cent beans and tofu.’

The former socialite, who once dined at the world’s poshest restaurants, said that prison food was ‘beyond tasteless’ because there was no salt and pepper added to it.

The controversy comes amid reports that Roberts has signed a multi-million dollar deal to write a memoir. The New York Post reported that a contract has been signed, but admitted it did not know which publishing house will produce the book.
Boies said: ‘Her comments confirm why she is and should be in prison.
‘There is not any sense of remorse, any sense of taking responsibility for what she did, any recognition that what she did was wrong.
‘She complains about having cereal and a piece of fruit for breakfast without any apparent recognition of how trivial that is compared to the damage she did to numerous young girls.’
Among the other claims made by Maxwell, 61, was that the infamous photo of Prince Andrew and Roberts – with her in the background – taken in 2010 at her London townhouse was fake.
Boies said: ‘Why she thinks it’s appropriate or useful to make comments like that is beyond me.’
In a previous statement to DailyMail.com, Boies’s colleague Sigrid McCawley, who also represents Roberts said that the FBI has the original of the photograph and that the bureau has ‘never questioned its authenticity.’
Maxwell herself admitted in an email sent in 2015 that the photo appeared to be real.
In the message she told Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz that it ‘looks real, I think it is.’
Maxwell’s interview came after Andrew reportedly assembled a $10million war chest to try to overturn the settlement he paid out to Roberts last year to settle a civil sex case she brought against him.
The settlement, which was for a reported $12million, came after Roberts – who now goes by her married name Virginia Giuffre –accused Andrew of battery and infliction of emotional distress for having sex with her when she was 17.
The lawsuit claimed that Roberts was trafficked to Andrew by Epstein, and that they had sex three times.

Boies dismissed reports about Andrew’s plans as ‘innuendo.’
He said: ‘As near as I can tell Prince Andrew doesn’t say anything and nobody who has any connection to him says anything.
‘Maybe somebody thinks it’s useful to cast innuendos from the shadows but I think the fact that neither Andrew nor anyone with any connection with him is saying anything speaks volumes
‘It would be one thing if he were suggesting something. But you don’t have him saying anything. You don’t have his lawyers saying anything. You don’t have his advisors saying anything. That says a lot’.
During her jailhouse interview Maxwell also claimed that Epstein did not commit suicide in 2019 while in prison and awaiting trial and that he was murdered.
Epstein’s death has been the subject of rampant conspiracy theories but the official cause of death was suicide by hanging.
Maxwell praises Bill Clinton as ‘one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met’
Ghislaine Maxwell called Bill Clinton ‘one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met’ during her jailhouse interview.
The disgraced socialite put the spotlight once again on the former president, who was friends with the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein for more than a decade.
Clinton flew at least 26 times on the pedophile’s jet – known as the ‘Lolita Express’ – and is pictured here with Ghislaine Maxwell
Speaking to TalkTV, Maxwell rubbed her face and looked wistful as she said that Clinton was ‘extremely sharp.’
She said he was ‘interesting and has a broad range of knowledge on the world.’
Maxwell and Clinton were so close that he invited her to the wedding of his daughter Chelsea in upstate New York in 2010.
Clinton flew on Epstein’s private plane – dubbed the ‘Lolita Express’ – several times, including on trips to Africa and Asia.
During one flight he posed for a photo with Maxwell, and in another image Clinton was seen getting a back massage from a young woman who claimed Epstein raped her repeatedly.
Clinton’s spokesman has strongly denied any wrongdoing.
