Wagner mercenary chief Prigozhin brands Putin a ‘complete a**hole moron’
Wagner mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin slams Putin
The international war criminal once known as “Putin’s chef” has launched an extraordinary attack describing the Russian leader as a “complete a**hole moron”. Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader and financier of the mercenary Wagner Group which is fighting in Donbas, has published a series of furious rants against the Russian war cabinet over the lack of ammunition being supplied to his fighters in Bakhmut. It comes as part of a push to take the final five percent of the city remaining under Ukrainian control.
Prigozhin, having become more irate with each video this week, appears to have taken the final step by extending his criticism to the “grandfather” of Russia.
While he did not mention Vladimir Putin by name, the term “grandfather” is one often used in Russian opposition circles, suggesting Prigozhin was using the same political sidestepping tactic to address the autocrat.
In his latest rant, he accused the Russian war cabinet of “collecting [artillery shells] in warehouses … instead of spending a shell to kill the enemy and save the lives of our soldiers”.
He then accused the “happy grandfather” of “thinking this is good for him”, adding that while he may be proved right, if he is not, it will make him “a complete a**hole moron”.
Prigozhin concluded: “The shells give freedom. And if they don’t give freedom with the shells… if they keep holding onto them then first we need to shove it up their a*** and then throw them in jail.”
Later on Wednesday, he said on Telegram: “I demand ammunition in order to save the lives of the fighters and put the squeeze on Bakhmut, of which there is only about five percent left occupied by the enemy.”
Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov remained coy when asked about Prigozhin’s comments, playing down the Wagner leader’s video and claiming the Kremlin was “too busy” to comment.
On Tuesday, Prigozhin claimed that Russia’s war cabinet had said they would try the Wagner Group for treason if they fled Bakhmut.
The rants followed an initial complaint from Prigozhin earlier about a failure from the war cabinet to deliver more than 10 percent of the ammunition required by the Wagner Group to continue its assault in Bakhmut.
The latest developments from the besieged city in Donetsk Oblast suggest Ukraine made rare advances as the public discord between Prigozhin and the Kremlin was being aired, though this could not be independently verified.
Ukrainian ground forces commander General Oleksandr Syrskyi claimed on Wednesday his soldiers had advanced within a mile of the city.
Meanwhile, the UK is set to designate Russia’s mercenary Wagner Group as a proscribed terrorist organisation, it is understood.

Wagner Group committing unspeakable atrocities all around the world [REPORT]
The Times reported a Government source saying the move was “imminent” and likely to be actioned within weeks.
Proscription would make it a criminal offence to join Wagner, encourage support for it, display its logo in public or attend its meetings.
Among other organisations on the Government’s proscribed list are the Islamic State, al Qaeda and neo-Nazi group National Action.
It comes as Labour demanded ministers formally label the Wagner Group a terror outfit after accusing it of committing “appalling atrocities”.
