White House rejects GOP strategist comparing Biden to Ron Burgundy

White House denies Biden had ANOTHER Ron Burgundy moment by reading off the prompter too literally by saying ‘end quote, repeat the line’

The White House Press Office is chiming in to defend President Joe Biden after he was compared to the foolish protagonist Ron Burgundy of the comedy film ‘Anchorman.’

Republican strategist Greg Price mocked Biden on Twitter Friday after yet another gaffe in which the president appeared to read speaking directions off of his teleprompter.

‘It is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast a ballot is consistently higher than the percentage of the men who do so. End of quote. Repeat the line,’ the president said during a White House speech earlier in the day.

‘Women are not without electoral…or political power.’

Posting the clip on social media, Price compared it to Will Farrell’s Ron Burgundy being unable to deviate from the script on his teleprompter despite grammatical mistakes and obvious errors. 

Burgundy’s embarrassing on-air verbal incidents are a recurring gag throughout the movie.

Price posted a clip of Burgundy’s frustrated news crew and suggested the White House staffers behind-the-scenes were feeling similarly. 

But White House Assistant Press Secretary Emilie Simons challenged Price’s claim that Biden made a mistake.

‘No,’ Simons wrote, adding that Biden said ‘Let me repeat that line.’

Price’s fellow Biden critic Elon Musk also chimed in on the banter, declaring: ‘Whoever controls the teleprompter is the real President!’

The billionaire Tesla founder also posted his own ‘Anchorman’ meme depicting a scene in which Burgundy ends his sign-off with an odd tone when his teleprompter script erroneously had a question mark at the end of his name.

‘For the last time, anything you put on that teleprompter, Burgundy will read,’ the image text states.

Musk made a similar suggestion in May during the All-In Summit where he accused the president of not fully being in control.  

‘The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter,’ Musk told a podcast at the summit. ‘The path to power is the path to the teleprompter.’

He added: ‘I do feel like if somebody were to accidentally lean on the teleprompter, it’s going to be like ‘Anchorman.”

Biden’s Friday remarks at the White House had preceded his signing of an executive order to safeguard abortion access after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade late last month.

The measures include strengthening access to abortion medication and emergency birth control and enhancing patient privacy rights.

The president blasted the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, in which the high court’s conservative majority sided with Mississippi in removing federal abortion protections, as a ‘terrible, extreme, and I think so totally wrongheaded decision.’

‘After having made the decision based on a reading of a document that was frozen in time in the 1860s when women didn’t even have the right to vote, the court now practically dares the women of America to go to the ballot box and restore the very rights they’ve just taken away,’ Biden said.

He called the 5-4 decision to overturn Roe and its sister case Planned Parenthood v. Casey ‘an exercise in raw political power.’ 

Chief Justice John Roberts did not agree with his fellow conservatives on overturning Roe, but he did side with Mississippi prosecutors’ argument on lowering the federal abortion threshold to 15 weeks.
