A 99-year-old woman had her lifelong dream of being a knife-thrower’s target during a live circus show.
Annie Duplock, from Leicestershire, stepped into the ring to have blades hurled at her by a professional knife-thrower.
The former circus worker, who will celebrate her 100th birthday in three months, ‘really enjoyed’ the daring experience.
Met by a cheering crowd at the grand finale of the Zippos Circus show, Ms Duplock braved the blades with the aid of a walking stick.
Ms Duplock had convinced her daughter to ask her former boss, circus founder Martin Burton, to let her live out the life goal.

‘She was 70 years old then and she is 100 years old this August,’ said Mr Burton.
The Zippos Circus audience were told of how Ms Duplock had seen the show the night before and then asked to take part as a 100th birthday gift.
‘I’ve always wanted to have knives thrown at me,’ Ms Duplock said.
She has also made it clear she’s ready to have another go.
