Woman loses partner’s Christmas shoebox filled with £900 at Brit rubbish tip
A desperate woman had to go dipping in a massive tip after a very expensive shoebox was thrown away by mistake.
Rihannon Thompson's heart sank when she realised a Nike shoebox containing £900 had gone to a tip.
The 23-year-old was questioned by partner Jordan Stevens about the box, as he had been saving up for Christmas, which is when she realised she had taken it to the dump two days before.

This caused absolute panic, and saw her begging staff at Bilston Recycling Centre in Wolverhampton for help.
Thankfully, after a two-hours search the box was found – although £80 was missing having spilled out somewhere along its journey to the tip.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Rihannon said: “My heart just sank – I'd taken it to the tip two days earlier. It had about £900 of my boyfriend's Christmas money inside but it had been tucked under some tissue paper in a money gift card so I hadn't seen it.
“I'd taken the rubbish on the Saturday and only realised what had happened on the Monday when he asked me where his shoebox was.
“The worst thing was he was planning to take it the bank that very day – we were waiting outside the tip gates on Monday morning but we had very little hope of ever getting it back.”
Luckily for her, the staff are experienced in finding objects lost in the rubbish.

Site manager Dave Phillips confirmed that the box had been crushed a few times already, making it difficult to find.
Having explained how he's also had to find car keys and wedding rings over the years, he confirmed that he has “never” had to search for a shoebox full of cash.
He added: “It's part of our job, we want to help and they were a young couple and it's a lot of money.
“We were very glad to have helped them out.”
