Woman sexually assaulted by man who sneaked into her flat by 'tailgating' her as police hunt for man in CCTV | The Sun

A WOMAN was followed into her flat and assaulted in a horror sex attack.

Police were scrambled to the home in Manchester city centre after receiving a report the victim had been "tailgated" into her block.

The suspect then pushed through her front door and sexually assaulted her.

Officers believe the attack at 10am yesterday is linked to a second ordeal earlier this week.

In that incident, police received a report of "suspicious" circumstances" on a road in the south of the city centre.

They have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following the horror.

Anyone who recognises the person has been urged to call police as soon as possible.

Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “I would first and foremost like to reassure members of the public that we have officers in the city centre and anyone who is concerned can approach them.

"We are carrying out extensive enquiries to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible but we are appealing for the public’s help to identify the man in the image.

"We’d also ask people in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicions."
