It might not be to everyone’s taste, but with the imminent release of director Greta Gerwig’s eagerly anticipated Barbie – a surreal feature length odyssey inspired by the Mattel doll franchise – one can expect the divisive colour to catch on over the coming months.
And while Barbie – with the undeniable assistance of actress Margot Robbie and her on-screen Ken, Ryan Gosling – has inevitably influenced fast-fashion, she has also cast an unlikely spell over home interiors.
Indeed, with less than a month before it goes on general release, fans have already been given a chance to stay in a pink painted Malibu Dreamhouse inspired by the film… for free.
AirBnB announced on Monday that the sprawling home will be available for fans to book two free one-night stays for two guests apiece on July 21 and July 22.

BELLA THORNE
The actress made quite a statement after purchasing her unique 4,500 square foot Sherman Oaks home for $2.01 million in 2016.
Long before Barbie made her transition from toy shop shelf to cinema screen, Bella opted to coat the exterior of her six-bedroom property in bright pastel pink.
The garish colour scheme extends to its interiors, with one room boasting a large pink felt layered snooker table, while another features headache inducing pink walls and ceiling decorations.
The property was featured on MTV’s Cribs in October 2018 and also got a write-up from Architectural Digest earlier that year.
Since 2019 she has been renting out the property, which she has dubbed the ‘Trippy Twins Fun House,’ for parties and photoshoots as well as giving guided tours for $50.
But it was put on the market the following year, for an asking price of $2.55 million.

KENDALL JENNER
Always ahead of the curve, Kendall embraced the colour pink as far back as 2017 – albeit for reasons that had nothing to do with fashion.
The supermodel admitted she redecorated her room with a baby-doll shade of pink in a bid to keep off the hunger pangs, a tip offered by a friend after they visited an art exhibition.
Taking to Instagram that December, Kendall shared an image showing a frosted Christmas tree in front of a distinctive pink wall.
In an accompanying blog post, she wrote: ‘You may have noticed that I posted this pic on Instagram a few weeks ago.
‘I decided to paint it [my living room wall] pink because while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the room, I went to dinner with friends and they had just gone to the Human Condition exhibition at a former hospital in LA,’ she said.
‘They were telling me there’s a pink room at the exhibit that had an explanation of the color choice: Baker-Miller Pink is the only color scientifically proven to calm you AND suppress your appetite.’
She added: ‘I was like, “I NEED this color in my house!” I then found someone to paint the room and now I’m loving it!’

She also won’t allow a television in her living room as she prefers to talk to her pals and she converted her home theater to a room where she paints.

Speaking to Architectural Digest in 2021, the British star revealed she wanted to breathe ‘fresh life’ into the property while redecorating each room with director friend Gaby Dellal – and a bubblegum pink cooking space was top of the agenda.
She said: ‘It was a very traditional English cottage and it’s now more sophisticated and evolved. I inherited someone else’s vision and made it my own but it was never quite right, so we’ve completely refurbed in here. ‘
