Alison Hammond reveals surprise connection to Emmerdale legend Lucy Pargeter

Alison Hammond shocked viewers and her co-star of This Morning in Tuesday's episode as she revealed her surprise connection to an Emmerdale actress.

Sitting in the This Morning studio that has been cosily decorated for Christmas, Alison told co-host Dermot O'Leary and the show's guest, the 'Queen of Soaps', entertainment journalist Sharon Jean Marshall, that she knew Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter.

Alison revealed that she used to go to drama school with "that lady" as she pointed to Lucy on a screen next to her on Tuesday's show after they watched a snippet from the latest episode of Emmerdale, where Lucy plays Chas Dingle.

In the snippet, Lucy is seen hugging the character Paddy, played by Dominic Brunt. It comes after viewers have been watching with outrage as Chas continues to lie about her dalliances with now dead Al Chapman.

As the clip ends, Alison is quick to tell her co stars about her connection with Lucy.

Alison and Lucy both attended classes provided by Central Junior Television Workshop, which is an organisation that offers training for young people in performance skills for television, film, radio and theatre.

The workshops are open to anybody between the ages of seven and 21, entry is by an annual audition process.

Several pupils from the drama school has gone on to have successful careers in the media industry, including Samantha Morton, Jack O'Connell, Felicity Jones and Doctors actress Donnaleigh Bailey.

Lucy has been playing the part of Chas in Emmerdale for over 20 years as her character was first introduced in the soap in 2002.

Chas is currently hiding a big secret from her husband Paddy as she's hiding her previous relations with Al Chapman, who is now dead.

But it has been confirmed that the affair will be revealed this Christmas period, leading to a heartbreaking Christmas period for the once-solid couple.

Emmerdale executive producer Jane Hudson told Digital Spy: "We're continuing our story with Chas and Paddy and how you navigate trying to be the best parents you can when your marriage is falling to pieces and one of you has had an affair.

"We'll watch them both go on their journeys. It will be very serious and quite heartbreaking as we watch what happens to what were one of our favourite couples before we tore them apart."
