Amanda Holden says ‘who knows’ who’s going to be on the BGT panel after David exit

Amanda Holden has shared her thoughts on the future of Britain’s Got Talent, after her fellow judge David Walliams reportedly stepped down from his role on the ITV talent show.

Mum-of-two Amanda, 51, and David, 51, sit on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, 63, and Alesha Dixon, 44, but it has been widely reported that David has quit, after a series of voice notes were leaked where he could be heard making derogatory and sexist remarks about BGT contestants.

Fans have since been speculating who could take the comedian's place on the panel, and it looks like Amanda is also wondering who she could be sitting next to next year.

“Who knows who will be sat in those seats next year? I love the show. I’ve been there for 15 years," Amanda told The Sun.

She does have someone in mind who could be the perfect fit however, and that's her close friend and showbiz pal Alan Carr, 46, who is the favourite to replace David.

Speaking about the rumours, Amanda added: “Alan would be incredible on any TV panel.”

The actress and singer went on to reveal that the BGT judges are "negotiating" their contracts currently, and she "can't imagine not being" on the judging panel.

Amanda, who has appeared on every series of BGT, told the publication: “All the things that have happened to me, I’ve lived through on Britain’s Got Talent. It’s sort of the foundation of my life. I got the job when Lexi was one and I’ve got married, lost a baby, given birth and been in a coma since.

“That’s why it means more to me than just being on an entertainment show. Britain’s Got Talent feels very personal. I can’t imagine not being there.”

David had been part of the judging panel for over a decade, but he received backlash earlier this year after he was forced to apologise after the release of leaked voice notes from his time on the show.

His remarks included calling one BGT contestant a "c**t" and saying about another: "She thinks you want to f**k her, but you don't."

David has since apologised for such remarks, saying: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain's Got Talent in 2020.

"These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry."

Reports have since claimed that the comedian has stepped down from his BGT role after 10 years following the leaked voice notes.
