Amy Nutall ‘demands divorce’ after Broadchurch husband’s ‘affair’ with co-star
Amy Nutall has demanded a divorce from Broadchurch star Andrew Buchan after he allegedly hooked up with his co-star Leila Farzad, according to reports.
Last month, it was said the 40-year-old – who married Andrew in 2012 – was 'crushed' and 'crying almost every day' after Andrew broke off their relationship and it's believed he moved in with Leila, 39, after the pair met while starring in new BBC thriller Better.
A source has now alleged that Amy and Andrew have ended their almost 11 year long marriage as Amy is now asking for a divorce, despite Andrew and Leila's relationship allegedly coming to an end.
The source told the Sun: “The shock twist is that it sounds as though after all the hurt and heartache, Andrew and Leila have actually split.
“However, that hasn’t done much to change Amy’s mind.
“She's told him she wants a divorce anyway. She’s been publicly humiliated and the pain has been unbearable."
OK! has contacted Amy, Andrew and Leila's representatives for comment.
Speaking about how Amy came to learn of Andrew and Leila’s romance, a source previously claimed that the “penny dropped” for the star after she discovered that her husband had been staying in London hotels near to their home.
“He was away a lot, which wasn’t unusual because of the nature of his work, but at one point Amy realised he had been staying in hotels very near to home — and wondered why,” they said.
“As time moved on, there were some tell-tale signs that he had become close to Leila — just something in his mannerisms and in their social media posts together.
“But the final straw was the lingerie — that’s what clinched it.”
The breakdown of the marriage has reportedly “broken” Amy, who shares two children with the actor.
“It has broken Amy, it has been so dreadfully sad to see,” a friend told MailOnline.
Andrew is known for playing the father of murdered Danny Latimer in Broadchurch on ITV and has also made appearances in Netflix’s The Crown as Andrew Parker Bowles and Sky Atlantic’s This Is England as politician Matt Hancock.
He previously spoke about his marriage to Amy, saying that both of them being actors helps them understand each other's schedules.
“It definitely helps that Amy’s an actor," he told The Express. "Who else would be OK with the absences or with you doing theatre on Christmas Eve? It helps so much if someone gets it.”
Amy found fame as the youngest understudy to ever play the lead of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at just 17, before getting her break a year later in Emmerdale as Chloe Atkinson.
She is also a professional singer, having performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall and became the winner of the celebrity edition of Stars In Their Eyes in 2004.
