Anna Kendrick Says She ‘Couldn’t Stop Cracking Jokes’ While Being Stuck in Toronto Elevator
When recalling the incident in an interview, the ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress reveals that ‘some lovely Canadian firefighters had me crawl out the top of the hatch.’
AceShowbiz –Anna Kendrick managed to keep a positive attitude despite having an unexpected incident. The “Pitch Perfect” actress, who got stuck in an elevator while at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend, revealed that she “couldn’t stop cracking jokes” while waiting to be rescued.
“I got in the wrong elevator at the wrong time,” the 37-year-old said during a conversation with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly. “I got out. Some lovely Canadian firefighters had me crawl out the top of the hatch.”
“But, yeah, it was, like, seven of us in an elevator just waiting to be rescued by firefighters,” she continued recalling. “It was so absurd that it would happen on a film press tour that it just seemed so immediately comical.”
Anna went on to note, “I couldn’t stop cracking jokes.” She then elaborated, “Although, maybe that’s a defense mechanism. Come on, Anna. Do you know anything about yourself? I think that was probably a defense mechanism. Oh no, I’m not healthy!”
Anna got stuck in the elevator while she was about to promote her new movie, “Alice, Darling“, on Sunday, September 11. She documented the whole ordeal in a video shared on Instagram.
In the clip, the “Simple Favor” star quipped that she and her stranded team were “just vibing” in the elevator. She even joked that they must “ration” their “limited supply” of food to survive. There was also footage where Anna climbed out of the malfunctioned elevator, before telling the firefighters, “I’m in love with every single one of you.”
In the caption of the post, Anna wrote, “Ah, the classic ‘I’m behind schedule at this film festival because I had to be rescued from an elevator’ excuse #TIFF22.”
That aside, Anna recently opened up about bonding with her “Alice, Darling” co-stars and director Mary Nighy. “Like so many things in life, I think the piece that was most therapeutic was actually building relationships with these collaborators and sharing our personal histories with each other, and then creating this thing together,” she shared.
