Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser trailer shows returning stars fending off attacks from soldiers and Atlanteans in the shadow of T’Challa

The teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released during Comic-Con International’s third day on Saturday.

The new clip saw several of the first movie’s stars, including Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira, dealing with a set of new adversaries laying siege to the titular country.

The teaser poster for the feature, which was also directed by Ryan Coogler, was also posted on Disney’s official Instagram account on Saturday afternoon.

New footage: The teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released during Comic-Con International’s third day on Saturday

The video begins with Nakia, played by Nyong’o, stepping out onto a majestic beach.

Several scenes from the nation of Wakanda are shown, and Letitia Wright’s Shuri and Angela Bassett’s Ramonda are also seen.

After Okoye, played by Gurira, is shown interacting with various Wakandan warriors, the aforementioned characters appear to grieve the loss of T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, and another figure gives birth while underwater. 

Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, then makes his debut, and several Mayan-esque Atlantean warriors ride on the side of a pair whales.

Starting off strong: The video begins with Nakia, played by Nyong’o, stepping out onto a majestic beach

Solemn: After Okoye, played by Gurira, is shown interacting with various Wakandan warriors, the aforementioned characters appear to grieve the loss of T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, and another figure gives birth while underwater

A squad of soldiers later raids a Wakandan research facility, and a royal chamber erupts into flames.

Shuri later enthusiastically greets Iron Man’s successor, Ironheart, played by Dominique Thorne.

Namor eventually steps out of the ocean, and several futuristic airships make their way through a frozen landscape.

Villain: Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, then makes his debut, and several Mayan-esque Atlantean warriors ride on the side of a pair whales

New blood: Shuri later enthusiastically greets Iron Man’s successor, Ironheart, played by Dominique Thorne

Ready to fight: Namor eventually steps out of the ocean, and several futuristic airships make their way through a frozen landscape

Ramonda later addresses a multinational audience and proclaims: ‘I am Queen of the most powerful in the world, and my entire family is gone!’

Boseman’s image is then shown, and Everett K. Ross, played by Martin Freeman, is introduced for the first time.

Several Atlantean warriors then fend off an attack from various Wakandans, and a rapid-fire montage of action scenes showcase several of the movie’s high-tension moments.

Loss: Ramonda later addresses a multinational audience and proclaims: ‘I am Queen of the most powerful in the world, and my entire family is gone’

The teaser’s final scene shows an unidentified character donning what appears to be a new Black Panther costume.

Development on a sequel to the original Black Panther shortly after the release of the original, which premiered in 2018.

Numerous cast members from the first movie expressed interest in returning for a follow-up, although plans were complicated when Boseman tragically passed away from colon cancer in August of 2020.

Successor: The teaser’s final scene shows an unidentified character donning what appears to be a new Black Panther costume

Working hard: Development on a sequel to the original Black Panther shortly after the release of the original, which premiered in 2018

Moving along: Numerous cast members from the first movie expressed interest in returning for a follow-up, although plans were complicated when Boseman tragically passed away from colon cancer in August of 2020

It was later confirmed that plans for a sequel would be moving forward and that the late actor’s role would not be recast.

Filming on the project began in June of last year and continued until its crew wrapped this past March.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled to be released on November 11.

A series focused on Thorne’s character is planned to premiere on Disney+ next fall.
