U2 frontman Bono and wife Ali Hewson are in good spirits as they make a surprise appearance at The Banshees of Inisherin premiere in Dublin

Bono was in good spirits as he mixed with the stars during a surprise appearance at The Banshees of Inisherin film premiere in Dublin on Friday.

The U2 frontman, 62, wore all black as he donned a dinner jacket with satin lapels over a matching T-shirt and a pair of smart trousers.

Bono was joined by his wife Ali Hewson, 61, who wore a black jacket and matching skirt, with the couple posing arm-in-arm.

They joined cast members Colin Farrell, 46, who plays Pádraic Súilleabháin, and director Martin McDonagh, 52.

Colin looked dapper in a black suit which he wore with a crisp white shirt which the actor left unbuttoned at the collar.

Martin also wore a smart black suit which he teamed with a matching shirt, with the pair being joined by actor Brendan Gleeson, 67, who portrays the character of Colm Doherty.

The screen star wore a navy blue suit which he teamed with a black T-shirt, with the star casually posing with his hand in his pocket.  

The Banshees of Inisherin follows two lifelong friends (Farrell and Gleeson) who, ‘find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them,’ according to the synopsis.

The film also stars Kerry Condon, Pat Shortt and David Pearse, with Martin McDonagh directing from his own original screenplay.

Both Farrell and Gleeson starred in McDonagh’s first feature film, 2008’s In Bruges, with Farrell also starring in his second film, 2012’s Seven Psychopaths.

Farrell has already starred in The Batman and Thirteen Lives this year, and he’s getting ready to return as The Penguin in a new Batman prequel TV series.

He’s also filming Sugar and is attached to star in writer-director Todd Solondz’s new film Love Child alongside Rachel Weisz.

Gleeson is currently filming A Greyhound of a Girl and is attached to star in Joker: Folie a Deux.

The Banshees of Inisherin is set for release in the UK on Friday 21 October.
