Bruce Willis celebrated his 68th birthday surrounded by his family as his ex-wife, Demi Moore, 60, shared the adorable festivities on Instagram. Earlier in the day, Emma Heming Willis, 44, gave a candid take on the eventful day, saying she had started her morning in tears.
The Die Hard star was serenaded by his loved ones, including his pregnant daughter Rumer, 34.
The close-knit family all seemed in good spirits as the actor blew out the two candles standing atop an apple pie, his “second favourite” according to his wife Emma.
Bruce joked with his family, encouraging the rowdy singing and taking a running start to blow out his candles, sending his daughters into fits of giggles.
This is the first time the actor has been seen since his family revealed his new diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, after retiring from acting almost one year ago due to aphasia.
Demi posted the sweet clip, thanking fans, friends and family “for the love and warm wishes”, adding: “Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today.”
Hundreds of thousands of fans wished the actor happy birthday in the comments section, with many commenting on how well Bruce seemed to be doing.
Jeanniebottles wrote: “Even the slightest thing is the BIGGEST thing! Usually when a person is suffering from frontotemporal dementia they don’t remember the significance of blowing out the candle.
“And he did it without being told to. I am so glad to see this! Happy Birthday Bruce!”

Emma also took to her own Instagram, where she has been keeping fans updated on her struggles, triumphs and memorable moments as she cares for her ailing husband.
As he celebrated his first birthday since his dementia diagnosis, Emma took a moment to reflect on the reality of their situation as she continues to raise their daughters, Evelyn, eight and Mabel, 10.
She began: “Today is my husband’s birthday. I have started the morning by crying.
“I just think it’s important you see all sides of this. People always tell me like, ‘Oh you’re so strong, I don’t know how you do it’.
“I’m not given a choice, I wish I was.

“But I’m also raising two kids in this so sometimes in our lives we have to put our big girl panties on and get to it and that’s what I’m doing.
“But I do have times of sadness, every day. Grief every day. And I’m really feeling it today on his birthday.”
The former model went on to explain that she was putting together a montage of photos and clips to celebrate the occasion, but soon got overwhelmed with emotion.
She added: “The videos are like a knife in my heart but as much as I do it for myself I do it for you because I know how much you love my husband – Don’t cry Emma – but it means so much to me so thank you.”
In the caption, Emma shared the “silver lining” to the situation writing: “I’m so lucky to feel your warmth and love that is directed to my husband and our family.
“I see your messages, your stories that you share, and all I can say is thank you.
“Your connection helps me and I hope it helps you in a small way to know that I see you and I deeply understand your journey as well.”
Fans were quick to offer support in the comments, as Carmen_thebeautiful lovingly shared: “Please don’t be afraid to cry – anywhere, everywhere, whenever, openly or privately.
“It’s not a shameful or embarrassing act. It’s love, it’s grief, it’s sadness, it’s joy – it’s human and it’s OK.”
