Camilla Thurlow praised for ‘keeping it real’ with honest parenting post including messy playroom
Camilla Thurlow has been praised for “keeping it real” with her approach to parenting after sharing some shots from her hectic day.
Camilla, who made her big break on season three of Love Island with Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood, took to Instagram on Tuesday after fans asked for a “day in the life” with her two daughters, Nella, one, and Nora, who was born in May.
While other influencers and former Love Islanders may offer a social-media-ready version of their lives, Camilla, 33, did not hold back as she detailed her chaotic day.
Camilla, who came second on the show alongside her now-husband Jamie Jewitt, shared a variety of pictures from their day that included playing in the snow, building a felt Christmas tree, and the mess her daughters created across the house.
In the lengthy caption, Camilla explained the story behind each of the photos, with the first showcasing Nell’s signature sense of style as she chose to wear a floral baseball cap to fight back the cold.
Nell then played with toy food, with her mum joking: “Nell made jam scones for three (you can tell it’s still early because her hair is still up and tidy)”
The third shot showed a smiley Camilla with “baby snot and sick” on her black T-shirt, while the fourth showed the mum breastfeeding Nora as Nell stuck stickers to her leg.
After lunch, as the girls were napping, Camilla attempted to get some stuff done including making dinner, drinking her coffee and tidying up the toys, though she joked: “Completed nothing!”
Following nap time, the girls continued to play and decorated a felt Christmas tree on the window before moving on to dinner, where they proceeded to throw four spoons and a fork onto the floor.
The final few pictures involved bath crayons, which Camilla said were her favourite despite the mess, and bedtime featuring Christmas pyjamas.
In the last portion of her post, the humanitarian continued: "I’ve tried to keep this as real as possible but even then it’s still the highlights really as I’d never be able to get pics of things like me struggling to do Nora’s medicine.
“So if it all looks a little calm and perfect then hopefully many of you are reading between the lines and know there’s a mountain of laundry and an ever growing to-do list in my head of things that should (but won’t) get done xx."
Camilla’s candour went down brilliantly with fans, with most people sharing their own personal stories about parenting mayhem.
“Thank you for sharing this. I feel so overwhelmed by the chaos/mess of everyday life with small humans sometimes it’s hard to remember it’s normal for most of us,” wrote one fan.
“Always good to see abit of real life on Instagram xx,” another said, with a third adding, “The most real and relatable thing I've seen all day. Love that Christmas Tree great idea thanks!”
