Bruce Willis, 67, surfaced with a couple of pals in Los Angeles this week amid his battle with the brain condition aphasia.

The Hollywood icon withdrew from acting earlier this year as he faces down the illness, which causes language abilities to deteriorate.

He cut a dapper figure when he was out this week, teaming a summery white short-sleeved shirt with jeans and a gleaming pair of sunglasses.

His wife Emma Heming, 44, recently hit back at critics who called her a ‘drama queen’ for saying her ‘grief’ over Bruce’s illness ‘can be paralyzing.’

The back-and-forth started when Emma shared an Instagram post marking National Grief Awareness Day and held forth on her personal experiences.

‘This was the summer of self discovery – finding new hobbies, going out of my comfort zone and staying active,’ she wrote in the caption. ‘My grief can be paralyzing but I’m learning how to live along side it.’

Trolls in her comments accused her of being melodramatic, with one snidely remarking that she would ‘cope just fine with his $$$.’

Emma posted a screen-grab of several of their jibes and wrote: ‘When you’re not allowed to talk grief, self-care, or being human in the world on grief awareness day.’

She has been married to Bruce Willis since 2009 and has welcomed two daughters into the world with him – Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, eight.

News broke at the end of March that Bruce was withdrawing from acting amid his battle with his brain condition. 

An insider told People his family was ‘doing whatever they can’ for him and ‘have rallied around him in a big way to help Bruce cope with what is to come.’

Bruce’s blended family issued a joint statement at the end of March announcing that he was ‘stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.’ 

The statement revealed he ‘has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.’

Demi Moore and the three daughters she shares with Bruce – Rumer, 34, Scout, 31,; and Tallulah, 28 – all signed the statement along with Emma, Mabel and Evelyn. 

After the family went public with news of Bruce’s retirement, fans flocked to social media to share their love for the Die Hard icon.

The Razzie Awards even decided to rescind a special category they had previously announced: ‘worst performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 movie.’ 

His family are now apparently focused on treasuring the upbeat memories they are able to create together such as Mabel turning 10 on April Fool’s Day. 

‘Emma is especially grateful for the daughters she shares with Bruce. Everyone is focused on all the happy moments they are able to share,’ a People insider said.
