Charlene White left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Saturday night after receiving the fewest public votes to stay in the camp. The 42-year-old newsreader has since discussed her time on the show with hosts Ant and Dec, and most recently, on Loose Women today.

Speaking of her experience, Charlene has said she felt as though she “walked a tightrope” around Matt Hancock as she tried to remain impartial.

With this, the Loose Women star claimed the former Health Secretary ruined her time on the show.

On confronting Matt over his breach of social distancing rules, she told press: “I didn’t want anyone to feel like I was being too sympathetic to Matt because that would jeopardise the job that I love and jeopardise my journalistic integrity. It would have shattered the impartiality I’ve consistently had the past 20 years.

“In my heart I felt if I didn’t represent those people who are still grieving and still hurting, if I don’t think about them and ask the questions that I want to know regarding his reasoning for going in the jungle… then I’m not doing my job.

“It went from me having a laugh to me constantly worrying about whether or not I could still do my job when I came out.’

Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Nicola McLean has since taken a swipe at Charlene.

Speaking to the Daily Star online, she said: “Charlene deserved it and I really hate her exit interview which she came out with. It’s a load of bulls***.

“She should have slept in the RV, she should have told Matt what she really thought, she said he ruined her jungle experience for her.

“It didn’t seem like that, hun, because you seemed really pally. She deserved to go.”

Nicola went on to say while she liked Charlene, but doesn’t believe she did confront Matt like she said she did.

She added: “I respect the career she got, she’s amazing, I’m sure she’s a fabulous mum, I’m not hating but she deserved to go.

“We could have kept her in so at least it was something to talk about with ‘bed gate’ but she needed to go.”
