Charles will close the door on Harry if book criticises Camilla, royal expert claims
A royal expert has claimed that King Charles will “close the door” on Prince Harry, if he criticises his stepmother Camilla in his explosive memoir, Spare.
Both senior Royals and their aids will be preparing for the potential fallout from the controversial book, which will hit bookstores on January 10.
Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle, have already come under fire this week after the trailer for their new Netflix documentary was released on the second day of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s US tour.
Despite this, Royal author and expert Phil Dampier believes that the King is determined to support his son.
However, that may change if the Queen Consort is criticised in the new book.
“I am sure it is right that Charles will go to great lengths to maintain a relationship with Harry but there is a limit, " explained Phil Dampier to The Express.
He added: “If Harry's account of his parents' divorce is too critical of Camilla, or places too much blame at Charles's door while painting his mother as a saint, that will be the point of no return.”
The royal expert went on to suggest that Prince Harry would be unable to remain close to the King, if this occurred.
Harry and Meghan may also be unable to rebuild their relationship with other senior Royal, including Prince William.
The “rift” between the brothers has apparently worsened since the death of the late Queen Elizabeth, who acted as a buffer between the boys.
Tensions between the two bothers have escalated this week, with Prince’s Harry new documentary threatening to overshadow Earthshot Prize Awards – which will held in Boston last night.
The awards were founded by Prince William and are a cause close to his heart, as the contest seeks new innovations to tackle climate change.
They were dubbed a “Super Bowl moment” by the Sussex’s biographer Omid Scobie, so the significance of the trip would not have been lost on Prince Harry.
A similar incident also happened in 2019.
Whilst Kate and William toured Pakistan, ITV released a trailer of The Sussex’s visit to Africa – much to the frustration of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Despite her efforts to reunite, the Queen passed away without the princes reconciling.
There has also been a division between Harry and his father King Charles, which has also grown in recent months.
A source close to the Royals alleged that the King was even refusing his son’s calls, after a bitter conversation about money.
Having learnt about his son’s book deal, the King distance himself from Harry and refused to support him financially.
The Sun newspaper even reported that when King was confronted about this by his late mother, he replied: “I’m not a bank”.
