Humour: Gino D’Acampo has admitted he has come close to being ‘cancelled’ by fans but insisted that he ‘doesn’t care’ what people think

He told The Sun: ‘There is a fine line on television and I think I walk the line, I’ve been walking that fine line for the last ten to 15 years.’

Gino said he thinks he ‘gets away’ with a lot more on TV than other people can because viewers have known him for around 15 years.

However, he insisted that he has never ‘crossed the line’ with his jokes, saying he would have been ‘fired’ if he did.

He said: ‘But I can get away with the accent and because I’m Gino and everybody knows me for a long time, I can get away with many things that someone else could not get away with it.’

Cancel culture: Gino claimed that he he come very close to being hit by cancel culture for his saucy jokes, saying he ‘dangerously’ walks the ‘fine line’ with his humour

Advising other people to brush off cancel culture, he added: ‘What they should do is instead of fighting the cancel culture is the way I do it – ‘I don’t care what you’ve got to say’ – that’s what I think.’

The TV personality, who will soon arrive on screens with his new show Gino’s Cooking Up Love, is well-known for his innuendos on air.

Earlier this year, he left viewers in hysterics as he hosted a question and answer segment, Ask Gino, on the morning ITV chat show.

He provided tongue in cheek words of advice to one woman who was seeking food-based relationship advice.

Career: The Italian TV chef (pictured in 2017), 46, has become known for his cheeky innuendos after shooting to fame on This Morning and has since hosted an array of popular cookery show

Naomi, of Essex, explained how fish took her fancy, while her partner of two months preferred sausages – namely chipolatas, which she ‘doesn’t know what to do with’.

The frustrated caller said: ‘I don’t want a small sausage!’, to which Gino replied: ‘You want a sausage that you can handle.’

The remarks bounced back and forth, with Naomi agreeing with Gino: ‘Yeah, meaty. I don’t see the benefits of a tiny little thing.’

Holly then chimed in, quipping: ‘I quite like a chipolata!’

Gino then offered his advice, saying: ‘It’s what you do with the chipolata. I’m always going to go for a big sausage because you keep the moisture.’

An amused Phillip jested: ‘If you’re not happy with the sausage that you’re getting, then go out and get a bigger one.’

While the TV presenters giggled, Gino concluded: ‘Take control of your sausages from now on!’

But in November, Gino was accused of being ‘xenophobic’ by This Morning viewers for claiming he disliked the French.

Innuendos: Gino said he thinks he ‘gets away’ with a lot more on TV than other people can because viewers have known him for around 15 years

He made the revelation about his dislike for the French nation as he cooked a chicken cordon bleu during one segment.

Despite the dish being considered French, Gino insisted it wasn’t before launching into a tirade about the country.

He said: ‘Not that I have to explain myself but this is called pollo impanato, which is stuff chicken breast. Now the French call it blah blah blah but it’s really pollo impanato.

Hitting back: Advising others to brush off cancel culture, he added: ‘What they should do is instead of fighting the cancel culture is the way I do it – “I don’t care what you’ve got to say”‘

‘Plus everybody knows I will never cook a French dish. I don’t like to cook other nation’s food.

‘I am going to be honest with you, apart from my friend Fred Sirieix, I don’t like French people.’

He added: ‘Too close to Italy, they always think everything they do is the greatest. There is no need for French people in the world.’

Controversial: In November, Gino was accused of being ‘xenophobic’ by This Morning viewers for claiming he disliked the French

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: ‘Just imagine the outrage if Gino Decampo [sic] said, I don’t like Pakistaini people, or I don’t like African people, he would (rightly) be branded a racist. But it’s absolutely Ok to say I don’t like French people.’

Another added: ‘Tell me how Gino Decmapo [sic] allowed to be racist on your programme?: If a British person said the same thing, Holly or Phil would have blasted them for it.’

Gino has been appearing on the ITV show since 2009, with his additional credits including Let’s Do Lunch, There’s No Taste Like Home and Gino’s Italian Escape.
