Chloe Madeley gives birth and shares sweet first snap of baby girl: Were besotted

Congratulations are in order for Chloe Madeley and James Haskell, as OK! can exclusively reveal the couple have welcomed their first child together.

The pair announced they were expecting back in February, and now Chloe has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Exclusively sharing the news with OK!, Chloe, 35, and James, 37, said of their new bundle of joy: “We are delighted to welcome to the world our daughter. We are utterly besotted and beaming with pride”

They also shared the first sweet snap of their little one, who arrived this week, with the shot showing their baby girl's hand.

The tot took their time to arrive into the world, as Chloe’s Good Morning Britain presenter dad Richard Madeley previously revealed his daughter was due on 7th August.

Chloe found out she was expecting a little girl during a meal with her dad Richard and mum Judy Finnigan at the family home. Describing it as a "movie moment", Chloe told us: “I got the email through. I scrolled down and it said ‘Female’. I jumped up and my mum dropped her fork on the plate.

"I said: 'I’m having a girl!’ It was very emotional and I know my parents secretly wanted me to have a girl, and they’re seeing it as their second experience of raising me."

Hubby James was equally thrilled with the news he was going to have a daughter, with his wife revealing the news by arranging for a box to be delivered to their house with a pink baby bear outfit inside.

"That’s when I welled up and nearly cried,” says James of finding out the gender. “It was pretty exciting. I actually wanted a little girl – I’ve been around enough men my entire life.”

Back in March Chloe and James exclusively told us how it had taken them two years to conceive their daughter, after fitness star Chloe decided she wanted to become a mum whilst rugby player James was in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! jungle.

Admitting she was “nervous” that becoming parents wouldn’t happen for them after months of not using contraception, worried Chloe visited her doctors for fertility tests.

“We picked up the pace in terms of trying and that nervousness turned into utter fear,” she explains.

“Like, ‘Hang on, I don’t want this option taken away from me.’ I woke up in the middle of the night and it hit me like a ton of bricks. And that pushed me into making a decision and that I absolutely wanted to have a family.”

Thankfully Chloe was given the all clear by her doctors, but with the pair still not falling pregnant she became concerned that IVF may have been their only option to have a family.

“I was getting to grips with the fact it might have to happen like that for me,” she says. “It was the realisation I may actually have to do that.

“Ultimately, we’re very lucky that we didn’t have to go down the IVF or adoption route. But it was a really sad few months where I was scared it wouldn’t happen for me.”

When it comes to names Chloe told it was going to be a battle over which would be their chosen moniker.

“James has a favourite, I have a favourite and my mum has a favourite – they’re all different," she said. This made James laugh and he added, “We’re not entertaining your mum’s names!”
