Dan Osborne pays tribute to CBB co-star Kirstie Alley and shares cherished memories
Dan Osbourne has paid tribute to his late friend Kirstie Alley who sadly passed away on Monday after a battle with colon cancer.
Towie’s Dan starred in the 2018 series of Celebrity Big Brother alongside Kirstie and other castmates, including Emmerdale’s Roxanne Pallett, comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli and the series winner, Ryan Thomas.
Kirstie came second during the show, followed by Dan, who shared touching moments with the actress throughout their stint.
Posting a number of pictures of the star, Dan wrote: “Waking up to such sad news today. Rest in peace to such a lovely woman Kirstie Alley.
“I had the absolute pleasure of spending a month with her in the big brother house. She’s a Hollywood legend, but spending time with her all day every day for a month, she was so down to earth, so kind, so loving & so so funny!
“We had such a laugh in there & they are memories I will cherish forever. My thoughts are with all of Kirstie’s family & friends.”
Kirstie’s death was confirmed by her children in a heartbreaking statement on Monday, that read: "To all our friends, far and wide around the world… We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.
"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."
"We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did," the family added.
Celebrity Big Brother winner Ryan Thomas also paid tribute to Kirstie and wrote: “Such a beautiful person inside & out, thank you for the memories we shared. RIP my angel heart.”
Kirstie first made a name for herself way back in 1978 when she starred in Quark as a handmaiden, though the role was uncredited.
Her breakout role came in 1987 when she was cast in Cheers alongside the likes of Ted Danson, Rhea Perlman, Kelsey Grammer, Woody Harrelson and Bebe Neuwirth.
She is also much-beloved for her role in the Look Who's Talking trilogy alongside acting legend John Travolta.
Recently, Kirstie has starred in shows like Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens, The Masked Singer, The Goldbergs, and in 2011, she came 2nd on Dancing with the Stars.
On the big screen, the Kansas-born actress starred in films like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Loverboy, It Takes Two and Syrup.
