AceShowbizDaryl Sabara has opened up about his sobriety journey. When discussing the matter on wife Meghan Trainor‘s podcast, “Workin’ On It”, the “Spy Kids” actor revealed what has encouraged him to be “fully sober” from alcohol and weed.

“One piece of advice that my therapist gave me that was so helpful was [that] she just said ‘If you want to be on your A-game maybe consider full sobriety,'” the 30-year-old said. “I was like, ‘What the f**k? Of course, I want to be on my A-game.’ “

Daryl claimed the therapist’s statement “sparked something” in him to “try this full sobriety thing.” He added, “Even though weed is not really bad for me right now, I don’t need to keep testing it out to wait to get bad or to get in a bad spot.”

Prior to that, the father of one divulged what triggered him to off the wagon and start smoking again. “I’m figuring out that being alone is kind of a trigger for me,” he admitted. “I know now that when I am alone to be ready for the little bastard inside of my head to be like, ‘Hey buddy, it’s just us now. What are we going to do?’ And that’s huge to know that it’s coming instead of just going to booze and weed.”

As for Meghan, she recalled a moment when her husband was high. “You’re a delight. I had a great experience with you high near me. I wasn’t like, ‘Ugh, you’re annoying,’ ” she recounted. “I was like, ‘You’re a little puppy dog.’ “

Daryl later thanked his singer wife for her full support. “You just make me a better person and I appreciate you.
