Deal Or No Deal ended in August 2016 following 13 series on Channel 4. 

And now it has been reported that the popular gameshow is being lined up to return with Stephen Mulhern set to replace former host Noel Edmonds to front an ITV reboot.

Sources have claimed there were suggestions Noel could return but in the end ITV are keen to give the show ‘a completely fresh look and feel.’

Insiders told The Sun of Deal Or No Deal: ‘ITV think there is still a huge appetite for it and think they could make a huge success of the show if they brought it back.

‘Plans for the reboot are in the very early stages and the details of when it could come back are being closely guarded.

‘Stephen has been approached about being the new host of the show which is something he is over-the-moon about.

ITV and Stephen Mulhern’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

Presenter Stephen is best known for fronting In For A Penny, as well as Catchphrase, and is a key part of ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway team. 

Deal Or No Deal, which aired for more than a decade, initially proved a hit, but audience numbers dwindled in its final few series.

At its peak in 2006, it attracted more than three million, but towards the end of its run tended to draw around 300,000 viewers an episode. 

Beginning in 2005, Noel presented almost 3,000 episodes of the show, in which contestants win prize money by selecting from 22 red boxes worth different sums.

He handed out £40million in winnings, although just eight contestants got the £250,000 jackpot. 

Prior to its axe in 2016, Noel said in a newspaper interview: ‘I do not know if it will be recorded again – if it’s over, I have had a sensational ten years.’ 

At the time, Channel 4’s then chief creative officer Jay Hunt said: ‘I remember watching Deal Or No Deal launch and watching it grow to become a hit that captivated audiences for over a decade.

‘A lot of the credit for that must go to Noel and his exceptional presenting
