The former ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star is reportedly sobbing as she and her husband Aaron Phypers arrive on set after their car is being shot at on their way to the studio.

AceShowbizDenise Richards is still reeling from a road rage incident that led to a gunfire. The actress and her husband Aaron Phypers were involved in a life-threatening situation as they were shot at in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Denise and Aaron were driving to Popsicle Studio in South Los Angeles, where she was filming for an upcoming project, when the shooting happened on Monday, November 14. She was riding in the passenger seat of their Ford F-150 Shelby pick-up truck while her husband was behind the wheel.

Aaron reportedly was having a tough time finding the place and the driver behind them was getting irritated, shouting at them while trying to squeeze in front of them. He let the guy pass, but the other driver wasn’t done. That was when the other driver shot at their truck, hitting the back end on the driver’s side.

Fortunately, no one was injured and the couple managed to arrive at the studio. Denise was reportedly sobbing on the set, but remained professional and worked for 12 hours after overcoming her emotions. Aaron stayed with her the whole time.

Someone from production saw the bullet hole on the truck, which picture was obtained by TMZ, and called 911. It’s unclear if cops came or took a report, but an off-duty cop, who was on set, escorted Denise and Aaron back to the freeway after she finished filming and they made their way home safely.

A source additionally tells PEOPLE of Denise in the aftermath of the road rage incident, “She was very shaken up and terrified, but she was a trooper and she went and filmed the whole day.” The source adds, “She didn’t want to not show up to work.”

The source further details the incident, saying that Aaron noticed a gold and maroon van was following them on the road. “[Aaron] could tell – he kept making rights because they were clearly being followed,” the source says. “The guy was obviously pissed behind him.”

“The van was on his tail, pushing him almost… they couldn’t figure it out,” the source continues, noting that Denise and Aaron were both “frantic” over the situation. The van pulled up to their left and Aaron rolled down his window to confront the driver. During the exchange, the driver allegedly “went off of them” and claimed Aaron cut him off.

Aaron eventually apologized, but the man continued to yell at them so Aaron drove off. It wasn’t until the couple got to the set that they realized the man had shot the back of their truck. “The guy had taken off by then, but when they realized the car was shot, they were really freaked out, and the production secured the scene,” the source says.

“Even though they were upset, [Denise] decided to stay and film. Her role was just a one-day deal,” the source adds. “The production company made her feel safe but they didn’t file a police report. They think now that people were after the car itself because it’s worth a lot of money.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum’s publicist confirms to NBC News that the incident had occurred, but authorities with the LAPD, the L.A. Sheriff’s department and the CHP said they had no record of the incident.
