Dove Cameron Dedicates MTV VMAs Best New Artist Win to ‘All the Queer Kids’

Dove Cameron won the Best New Artist award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (August 28) at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The 26-year-old singer and actress picked up the big win over Latto, Baby Keem, SEVENTEEN, GAYLE and Måneskin.

Dove was truly surprised at her win, which was presented by Avril Lavigne.

“Thank you so much! I’m so floored. I’m so moved. This is so wild to be up here with so many artists that I worship, these are some of my all time favorite artists up here,” she started her acceptance speech.

Dove then went on to dedicate her award to queer kids.

See what she said inside…

“This year has been so wild and I have no explanation for it, except that I have you guys to thank. I know that,” she continued. “I want to dedicate this to all of the queer kids out there who don’t feel that they can take up space and inhabit the fullness of who they are.”

“Thank you for giving an overtly queer song onto mainstream radio. Thank you for supporting me as the person and the artist that I am. I hope that in that way, you’ve also given that same privilege to yourself. I love you so much,” she added.
