Escape To The Chateau’s Dick and Angel ‘suspend wedding business’ after Channel 4 axe

Escape To The Chateau's Dick and Angel Strawbridge have suspended their wedding business, following Channel 4's announcement that they would be cutting ties with the couple.

It was reported that the pair clashed with producers, leading to the show being axed following its ninth series, which aired last December.

The pair – who put their famous chateau up for sale in December – appear to have since suspended their wedding business, with a statement on the couple's website currently reading: "We are currently on a two-year weddings ‘catch-up’, we will reopen enquiries as soon as we can!"

Other events held at the Chateau, have also been postponed, with the event pages instead reading: "Unfortunately our events at The Chateau are currently unavailable whilst we play catch-up! Keep checking back for more details."

OK! has contacted representatives for Dick and Angel for comment on this story.

It comes just days after Channel 4 confirmed they would no longer be working with the couple, telling The Mirror: "Following a review we have taken the decision to not work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future."

Production company Two Rivers Media, who produced the final five series of Escape to the Chateau, have also severed ties with the couple, telling the publication: "We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment."

The first four series of the popular show were produced by Spark Media Partners, who cut ties with the couple in 2018, with the reason for this remaining unclear.

A source who had worked with the Strawbridges, has since told the Daily Mail that the couple were not quite as nice as their TV personas made them appear.

They told the outlet: "Dick and Angel come across on screen as the most gorgeous and lovely couple, literally like butter wouldn't melt, but they're not like that off screen.

"It's a full-on show, production is with them at the chateau for weeks so they can't hide their real characters – they can't turn it on for two hours of recording and then not go back to their real persona.

"They're just spiky and volatile people and, as you can imagine, that's a nightmare to work with."

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that Angel is considering ways to make a return to TV, with a potential appearance on either Strictly Come Dancing or I'm A Celebrity.

A friend of the couple said: "Now she is no longer attached to Escape to the Chateau she is considering all options.

"She would be sure to ruffle feathers in the jungle and is not afraid of speaking her mind."
